The symbols of Genoa: Lanterna and Focaccia

Genoa, one of the Maritime Republics alongside Venice, Amalfi, and Pisa, was one of the greatest naval powers of the Middle Ages. Its crucial port has welcomed diverse cultures throughout the centuries.

The Lanterna is a lighthouse built in 1128 that has become the symbol of the city. Located on the Capo di Faro promontory, it stands 77 meters tall, making it the highest lighthouse in the Mediterranean.

Focaccia is another emblem of the city. Born centuries ago, its history is deeply intertwined with that of Genoa. The cultural influences that have reached the port over the centuries have also left their mark on local cuisine, helping to shape and spread its culinary traditions.

Few ingredients, high quality

The Genovese focaccia recipe calls for only 4 ingredients: flour, water, yeast, and extra virgin olive oil (EVO), to which a pinch of malt is added.

We carefully select the ingredients for our focaccia.
We want only the best, so we check their origins and quality.

The yummy part: our secret

The secret is the final touch: hand holed and with a topping of «salamoia» (a liquid composed by water, Evo oil and salt) that gives to focaccia its unique taste.

That's really the yummy part: find the salamoia inside the holes on the top of focaccia, the tastier zones.
